Who we are
Here at TankerTrackers.com (“TankerTrackers.com, Inc.”, “Operators”, “Site”, “Service”, “we”, “our”, “us”), take your privacy very seriously. For that reason, we have a commitment to gather as little information about our users as possible - no more than is needed for us to provide you with a stable and reliable service. This Privacy Notice will inform you as to how we collect and look after your personal data through your use of this website, including and not limited to any data you may provide us when registering as a User (“User”, “You” or “Your”) and/or purchase of a Subscription.
The Operators reserve the right to update or modify this Privacy Notice. Should this happen, we will inform you on the website within thirty days of the changes set to come into effect. Please note that you need an account to use some of our service features, such as accessing the members-only news feed. To create this account, you must provide us with some personal data so that we can provide the service to you. This includes some payment data, which we store with our partner Stripe. Your usage of the site is always anonymous and will never be analysed other than aggregated together with other users.
It is important that you take the time to read this privacy notice carefully. By using our websites and/or any of our services, products and/or applications, you are providing your complete consent and full acceptance of (including and not limited to the collection and processing of your personal information) the practices described herein, and that you agree to the terms and conditions set forth in this privacy notice (the “Privacy Notice”). If you disagree to the terms provided herein you must cease all use of the Website and all of our services, products and applications immediately.
Types of Data That We Collect and How We Use It
The meaning of ‘personal data’ applies to any information relating to an identifiable person who can be directly or indirectly identified in particular by reference to an identifier. We are committed to gather as little information about our users as possible, which means that we do not collect any information about you as a person, other than what is needed for us to provide you with a stable and reliable service.
We may collect some of your data and information to use in the following ways expressed herein:
We may handle login authentication via third parties over OAuth, (including but not limited to Facebook, Twitter, Google and LinkedIn). In so doing, the only personal data from those service that would store about you would only be over the duration of the period that you are logged in. This is done via an access token provided by the OAuth provider so as to properly identify you during the login process. As part of your user personalization your profile image may be provided by the OAuth provider. Most other personally identifiable data will be stored in a cookie saved on your own device, so that we do not have to store your settings and personalization details in our database. Your information - including the custommization and personalization settings you have set on this website - belong to you and will be stored as part of your session details, meaning we will not store them.
For our transacting users, we need to store a little bit of your information that includes your full name, email address and information regarding your payment data that includes your home country, to enable us to correctly apply Value Added Tax. We have taken pains to minimize this as much as possible, for your privacy and safety. We only store the final four numbers of your supplied payment card number and the card type (Visa, Mastercard, etc). This is then tied to your user identity at Stripe, which handles the actual invoicing and billing on our behalf. We will never see your payment card details, and only have access to whether a payment has been processed successfully or unsuccessfully by Stripe.
In addition, server logs are kept as anonymized as possible. We store enough data so as to give enough information to troubleshoot connectivity or service delivery issues and to stay within our obligations under law. While visitor IP addresses are saved in the log files, there is no automation in place to look them up or perform automated analysis of them. Some random sampling of user behaviour (navigation, time spent on individual pages and website usage) may be gathered for the purpose of refining the site, but all of this data is anonymized and aggregated over multiple users. Plaintext passwords and credit card data is never stored on disk on our servers, in temporary handling or similar. Passwords are encrypted the moment the registration form is submitted, and credit card data is only kept in memory for the time it takes Stripe to acknowledge receipt of that data.
Website Cookies
Our website uses cookies to collect information about its use, to distinguish between users, to help us improve the site to provide you with a good experience. We use both session and persistent cookies on the Service. You can set your browser to refuse all or some browser cookies, or to alert you when websites set or access cookies. If you delete, disable or refuse cookies, please note, you might not be able to use all of the features we offer, you may not be able to store your preferences and that some parts of this website may become inaccessible or not function correctly as a result of doing so. For more information about the cookies we use, please see our Cookies Policy.

If any provision herein is held to be unenforceable, the remaining provisions will continue in full force without being affected in any way. Further, the parties agree to replace such unenforceable provision with enforceable provisions that most closely approximates the intent and economic effect of the unenforceable. Should this not relate to Force Majeure being instated, as this would affect the provisions of being able to continue without effect and that of the timescales be able to resume as expected once Force Majeure is no longer in effect.
